Erika Oliver wanted to be the next disco queen.
As a kid growing up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she dressed like Madonna but sadly her voice would not lead her to singing stardom. So after high school – instead of going to Hollywood – Erika went to college.
She loved human science and studied cellular biology but found that she needed to be around people – not petri dishes – so she earned a business degree instead. After college Erika worked in health care administration and taught health care business. She loved teaching and went back to school for a Master of Public Administration degree. From there she led a national nonprofit to a fundraising record during the 9-11 crises.
Asked to share her strategies, Erika developed the “Happy Crap Positive Approach Method”. In the past 12 years she has continued to develop tools and strategies to help people, teams and organizations find their “happy”. Erika believes that happiness is not a luxury but a personal, professional and economic necessity. She wants you to know that happiness is not natural for her. Erika is a “recovering pessimist” and practices everything she will share with you.
Erika has published four books including the award-winning “Three Good Things: Happiness Every Day, No Matter What!”, a coloring book for adults in which she did all of the art, and most recently “Happy Crap: Unleash the Power of Positive Assumptions”. Erika lives with her husband Mark and their two college-student sons, Erik and Evan. When she is not spreading crap – of the happy variety – you will find her with her family or on a yoga mat. Erika can’t wait to help you unlock and unleash your positivity power!
